    The Hydrovac Truck Specialists

    Working with D&L Environmental

At D&L Environmental Ltd., we pride ourselves on customer service and cutting edge technology. We are the owners of the largest fleet of vacuum trucks in the Okanagan area, and specialize in cleaning and excavation.

With the latest in vacuum technology, our Hydrovac trucks are fully equipped for excavation. The process works differently from a typical excavator, instead of physically digging a hole in the earth high pressure water is used to liquefy the soil which is then vacuumed into the truck or a separate area. This has a number of benefits, with the primary benefit being the precision the method allows. If you’re digging around delicate structures like electrical wires hydrovac excavation is ideal as it allows you to easily excavate the soil around and underneath the wires without damaging them.

    Hydro Excavation Essentials

Remote Excavation vacuum trucks allow for easy excavation in remote areas around Kamloops. In the past excavators and other heavy machinery would have to be towed out into cabin country around lakes, often through roads that are much too small causing roadblocks and disturbances. With vacuum trucks it’s much easier to drive to location, perform the excavation, and head back to headquarters.

Cold Weather Excavation Hydrovac services work in winter as well as summer, we take pressurized water and inject it into the soil surface. This thaws the frost layer quickly, leaving a slurry that’s much easier to take out through out heavy-duty vacuum. With cost-reduction & efficiency on your side, many Kamloops industries have opted for hydrovac excavation as their go-to method for projects in cold-weather environments.

Non-Destructive Excavation (NDE) Vacuum trucks are far less destructive than traditional digging means. By converting the soil into a slurry and sucking it out of the ground D&L Environmental is able to quickly displace the soil without damaging any important structures. This particularly useful for repairing septic tanks, or underground wires as the soil can be easily removed without causing further damage or requiring dozens of man hours to manually dig away the soil.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Is hydro excavation safe?
    • Does hydro excavation destroy the area being excavated?
    • What are some common uses of hydrovac trucks in the excavation process?
    Is hydro excavation safe?

Most definitely! Hydro excavation is a very safe process. At D&L Environmental Services we make great strides and take great pride in being a safety leader.

One of the concerns with any kind of excavation is buried utilities. One wrong move or careless venture could rupture gas or electrical lines, water pipes or telecom cables. Breaking these lines could cause some major damage to local infrastructure and community. Utility locating and hydrovac services can drastically reduce the possibility of ruptured utilities.

Does hydro excavation destroy the area being excavated?

Hydro excavation is a non-destructive method of digging. It utilizes a vacuum system and pressurized water (a.k.a. “hydrovac”) that safely expose underground infrastructure in a rapid but very controlled manner. The resulting slurry is extracted by a powerful vacuum and stored in a debris tank on board our hydrovac truck. That’s far more effective and environmentally friendly than traditional excavation methods!

What are some common uses of hydrovac trucks in the excavation process?

Hydrovac trucks are ideal for digging deep holes or exposing utilities (daylighting) and forming trenches. Because they’re fast & accurate, hydrovac trucks can be utilized to dig holes for installing road signs, telephone poles and the like. Our hydrovac trucks work on nearly all terrains, handling some of the most challenging excavation jobs. They’re also ideal for debris cleanup, removing wet or dry material from trenches, pits, and underground tanks; and pulling water, sludge, soil, spills, debris, etc. from hard-to-reach underground areas.
